There are so many reasons elopements have my heart, but honestly, one of my favorite parts is the people I get to meet as a Greenville SC elopement photographer.

Emmy and Stu were no exception. We clicked almost immediately on our consultation call, and by the time we hung up, I was already so excited to photograph their Greenville, SC elopement. They were kind, thoughtful, intentional, and just the kind of people you hope you get to work with.

And then their wedding day arrived, and somehow it was even better than I imagined.

From their character-filled Airbnb to their sweet Friday afternoon ceremony at Falls Park, every part of their day felt incredibly personal. They thought through every little detail, surrounded themselves with the people they love most, and created an intimate wedding day that felt completely like them.

And yes, I am still obsessing over their gallery, ok!!

Intimate Elopement in Greenville, South Carolina

Emmy and Stu planned their elopement for a Friday afternoon in Greenville, South Carolina. Rather than a large traditional wedding, they chose to spend the day with their closest friends and family and focus on what mattered most to them.

And they really did think of everything.

The day was full of those little decisions that make an intimate wedding feel personal. Their friends helped create the aisle for the ceremony. Their parents walked them toward each other. They exchanged vows surrounded by the people who mean the most to them. And at the end of it all, they celebrated with a bubble exit and portraits around Falls Park.

It was simple, meaningful, and incredibly sweet.

Getting Ready at a Greenville Airbnb

We started the afternoon at their Airbnb in Greenville, and I could not have been more excited about this location.

It was STUNNING. I’ll link it at the bottom for ya.

Natural light, beautiful wooden beams, tons of character. The kind of atmosphere that makes getting-ready photographs feel like so much more than simply documenting someone putting on a dress or buttoning a jacket. It was truly a dream for an elopement photographer in Greenville SC.

It also happened to be located right beside Hello Day Drinkers, which felt like an instant win for a wedding day starter location.

The space gave us so much to work with photographically. The architecture, the light, the textures, and all of the little details created a beautiful beginning to their story before we even made our way to Falls Park.

And getting ready at an Airbnb is something I absolutely love for an intimate Greenville elopement. Instead of feeling rushed through a traditional hotel room, you can choose a space with personality that becomes part of the story.

For Emmy and Stu, it was the perfect place to begin.

Elopement Details and Wedding Day Inspiration

Emmy and Stuart thought of every. little. detail.

And I mean that.

From the way they planned their ceremony to the people who played a part in it, everything felt intentional without feeling overly complicated.

Those details are some of my favorite things to photograph because they tell you so much about a couple. The flowers, the setting, what they chose to wear, the way their ceremony came together, and even the little pieces of the day that might seem insignificant in the moment all become part of the bigger story.

And with an elopement, I think those details can be especially meaningful.

When the guest list is smaller and the day is more intimate, the things you choose to include really have a chance to stand out.

Falls Park Elopement in Greenville SC

After getting ready, we made our way to Falls Park in downtown Greenville, where Emmy and Stu met their friends and family for their ceremony.

Falls Park is one of those places that makes it very easy to see why Greenville is such a beautiful place for an intimate wedding or elopement.

You have the Reedy River, greenery, the city surrounding the park, and so many different textures and backdrops within a relatively small area. It gives you the feeling of being somewhere special without requiring a complicated wedding-day itinerary.

And for Emmy and Stu, it was the perfect setting for their ceremony.

Their friends formed the aisle, creating the sweetest path for them to meet in the middle. Their parents walked them toward each other, which was such a meaningful addition to their ceremony.

And then came the vows. Their vows had me in tears. Like they were so sweet we were all in tears. Me and their friends and family. But, we were also giggling the whole time hearing their story and things about each other that they loved! It was the perfect mix of sweet and funny.

There is something so special about standing behind the camera and getting to witness two people promise their lives to each other. I get to photograph a lot of beautiful things, but being trusted to document moments like that will never feel ordinary to me.

An Intimate Wedding Surrounded by Family and Friends

AKA the people they brought with them. Another one of my favorite things about photographing an elopement is seeing who a couple chooses to bring along. Eloping does not have to mean being completely alone.

For Emmy and Stu, their closest friends and family were there to celebrate with them. And you could feel how much those relationships mattered.

There is something beautiful about a wedding day that isn’t centered around entertaining a huge guest list. Instead, it can be centered around actually being present with the people who came to celebrate you. The hugs. The happy tears. The laughter. The people standing nearby as you say your vows.

Those are the photographs that become part of the story too.

Because years from now, I don’t think Emmy and Stu will only remember what their ceremony looked like. They’ll remember who was standing there.

And I want their photographs to bring all of that back.

Romantic and Candid Elopement Photography

As an elopement photographer in Greenville, SC, one of the biggest things I want my couples to know is that you do not have to know how to be in front of a camera. That is my job.

For an elopement like Emmy and Stu’s, I want there to be a balance between beautiful, intentional portraits and the moments that simply happen. I’ll give direction when you need it. If there is beautiful light, I’ll move you into it. I’ll give you prompts that create movement and interaction. I’ll pay attention to the architecture and the surroundings and look for the little moments happening in between.

That approach was especially fitting for Emmy and Stu because their entire day felt so natural. There was plenty of thought behind it, but nothing about it felt like they were trying to make their wedding look like someone else’s. It felt like them.

A Sweet Bubble Exit in the Park for their Elopement

And then, because apparently their day wasn’t already sweet enough, they ended it with a bubble exit!!! I mean… come on. 🫧 It was the perfect way to wrap up an intimate afternoon in Falls Park. (Another touch that lights up an elopement photographer in Greenville SC)

Instead of a traditional grand exit, they chose something playful and personal. Their friends and family gathered around them, bubbles filled the air, and the whole thing felt like one big celebration.
