How many favorite sessions am I allowed to have? One, two – all of them? Regardless, Camille and Cameron’s engagement session in Spartanburg, SC has just made that list. I was so inspired with these locations when I arrived. I had no clue when I was walking into because Cam found it through a family friend. We had two incredible scenes to work with. The first was a beautiful, fall scene with tall trees and a range of colors. The next was a simple, serene dock setting. Keep reading to see this amazing session!
Camille’s been one of my best girls since senior year of high school. In all the time I’ve known her, she’s proved to be kind, honest, and a fiercely loyal friend. She never fails to let you know exactly what she’s thinking. Something I’ve always admired about her.
Her and Cameron got engaged this past Summer while vacationing with their friends and family at Edisto beach. Cameron surprised her one evening on the beach as the sun was setting. As she said yes, more of her family came walking down the beach, as well. They popped champagne and celebrated the happy couple. Cameron did so great with the whole thing. **insert sappy tears**
When Cam asked me to take her engagement photos, I was so excited. Any engagement session is fun, but with one of your oldest friends and her guy? It’s one that’ll pull on your heart strings!! They decided they wanted their photos taken during peak fall season. With that, she called up a family friend as we borrowed their land for photos. And, BOY, am I glad she made that call. We met at the best photo backdrop: a yard exploding with autumn hues, an old, charming barn, and a dock perched on a little lake. A photographers dream really.
The first half hour was the epitome of a fall engagement session. Leaves painted the ground, while the tallest trees framed them wherever I turned the camera. It was breathtaking. And, boy, they did the dang thang. LOL. Cameron was a trooper at all my prompts and suggestions.
Then, there was Maple, their new pup, joining the family portraits by the barn. Watching them shower her with love made me want to melt behind the lens. **insert MORE tears**
This leads me to having pups at your session. The answer is ALWAYS a big, fat, YES. Do you have a booked engagement session and you want to bring you puppy? You HAVE to. It’s your baby!! Getting married and want pictures with your kitty? Yes, please. Your animals can’t miss the start of your family or the opportunity to get some pictures with his or her family.
If you are worried about bringing your animal, I like to suggest maybe bringing a family member with you! This allows you to be present during our shoot, as well as me, but with the added benefit that your furbaby is there, too, being taken care of while we focus on pictures. When the time is right, we will add that furbaby in the photos. I promise, you won’t regret it!
Okay, back to Cam and Cam, shall we?
Finally, we hit the dock. Time for bubbles and to celebrate their love. Cameron popped the bubbly, and they played in the leaves as we chased the last bit of sun. It was, quite literally, what photography dreams were made of.
This was THE BEST SESSION. I love documenting this season for couples. It’s all smiles and the most tender moments, even during the posed photos or prompts during the engagement session. The giddiness is truly unmatched.
On top of all that, these were people that I love. And, I freakin’ love, love, LOVE seeing my people so happy, okay?!
Cam and Cam, I am so excited for you guys. I can’t wait to celebrate you more later this year and see you get married. More than that, I can’t wait to see the beautiful life you create. I’m happy to be a part of it. **insert more crying tears**
