If you’re dreaming of a cozy, intimate elopement, Falls Park in Greenville, SC, is the ultimate spot. And, Megan Mullins and Gray McCledon thought so too—and their story is a sweet reminder of just how special this place can be.
Megan and Gray first stumbled upon Greenville a few years back, and like many, they fell head over heels for the city’s charm. Their journey brought them to the Falls Cottage, which overlooks the stunning Falls Park and Liberty Bridge. The views were breathtaking, and they knew they wanted to call Greenville home. It’s a city where Southern hospitality meets vibrant culture, with plenty of unique local spots to explore.
Meg and Gray remembered looking down and seeing the “Falls Cottage Terrace” plaque. It was a sweet reminder of that moment for them, exactly where they were when they made the decision to make the move to Greenville. Later, they sat by the same plaque to read their vows for their elopement in Greenville, SC. I’m so grateful this adventure led me to them, allowing me to capture their engagement session and elopement!
Their big day kicked off at an awesome Airbnb in downtown Greenville, where they chose to get ready together—a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple. Megan made her own bouquet and it was to die for. She used a mix of vibrant colored flowers that was perfect for summertime. Gray was all about capturing those sweet pre-ceremony moments with a personal camera recorder. Watching them help each other get dressed, they were so intentional—Megan slipped into her dress with Gray’s help buttoning her up, she fixed his bolo tie, and admired the personal touches to his suit. The date embroidered on the collar. (And, they were so cool. I mean a bolo tie? Come ON. I loved it!)
After getting ready, they took a leisurely stroll to Paloma downtown Greenville to celebrate with a few close friends. They walked in and were greeted with cheers, congratulations, and lots of hugs. The energy at Paloma is always lively, making it the perfect spot for their little pre-wedding celebration. They decided everyone needed to do a shot to toast the couple. Cheers filled the air, sending them off with good vibes. It was simple and sweet, just like Megan & Gray.
And, then it was time for the Falls Park, Greenville elopement. With the beautiful summer greenery all around, they exchanged vows in a serene setting that felt straight out of a fairy tale. The sound of the river and the lush surroundings created a magical backdrop. I mean, as cheesy as it sounds, birds were singing and the wind humming behind them created the best background noise as they exchanged their vows to each other. After signing their marriage license, they officially became husband and wife in one of Greenville’s most stunning spots.
And, we took SO MANY PICTURES, YOU GUYS. We started by walking from Fall’s Park towards M.Judson’s Books. (Aka the old Greenville courthouse.) We got some sweet moments of Gray holding Meg’s dress, the beautiful greenery over the bridge, and Meg and Gray doing a prompt I like to call “Runaway Bride and Groom.” This prompt adds movement, makes couples laugh, and gets them comfortable in front of the camera. A fan favorite, truly! Next, we stepped inside the Chamber of Commerce Building, across the street. And, I must say, it was STUNNING. Seriously, we were obsessed. The building had classical detailing: stone sills and architraves, a stone door surround featuring two eagle motifs, and stone keystones over the first floor windows. We knew this would be the spot we would take most of their photos and it did not disappoint.
Did I mention they’re the coolest couple, ever? Well, it got even better, folks. To top off their day, Megan and Gray headed to the West Village, where they got tattoos of each other’s initials on their ring fingers… WHAT. This was SUCH a fun experience. It truly reflected their adventurous spirits, and it was a moment filled with giddy, “just married” smiles, holding hands, and showing off those initials. I’ve got way too many favorite photos from this part, so stay tuned for a separate blog post on that—trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
