It’s So Nice To Meet You!

Hi, there! Mae here 🙂

Officially, I’m Maegan, but most people call me Mae. Hi! I’m so happy you landed here and want to know more about me. If you are looking for a photographer, this blog is a great start. I believe getting to know your photographer is just as important as me getting to know my clients. I’m so grateful to be brought into so many intimate moments in people’s lives. I want your experience with me to be personal and comfortable and an overall great experience. I want to see the real you and I believe that starts with showing you the real me. SO. Let’s get to it, shall we?

I live in Greenville, SC, with my husband, Ryan, and our kitty, Leo James. Ryan is my absolute best friend and the reason I love documenting weddings, elopements, & just love in general. He is the best husband, partner, & friend. He’s a better husband that I could have ever imagined, honestly. He still surprises me everyday. I want everyone to experience this kind of love in their life! The fact that my job is to celebrate and document that love?! It’s such a dream.

Ryan and I met at Clemson my senior year (Go Tigers) and married in September of 2021. We had an intimate ceremony on a Thursday, (a modified elopement, if you will), with a reception the following Saturday, surrounded by our favorite people. It was truly the best day/weekend. With me wanting to run away and elope, and my social-butterfly-of-a-husband wanting a big blowout of a celebration, we think we truly got the best of both worlds! Since then, we’ve enjoyed married life and spending most of our time with family and friends!

A little about me – I am constantly working on or dreaming about a home project. Seriously, Ryan wants to kill me when we are knee deep in a project. It always is harder than I imagine but love him for sticking them out with me!! Funny story – when we moved into our current home, we had been there for not even 24 hours before I started cutting a whole in the wall… LOL. Not to mention it was directly behind the front door of our home… I’m so grateful that the project worked out, because now, my little kitty (who is actually a grown cat but he will always be our kitty), has a cat door to his litter box! And, we no longer have litter in our house. YAY.

An ice cold Coca-Cola is my drink of choice, BUT I am on a health kick currently – meaning less of that and more water (lame, but necessary). I don’t drink alcohol often but if I am? A rum and coke with lime, please! I think I might be part captain jack sparrow with how much I love a good rum drink. **”why is the rum always gone????” -Capt jack sparrow, of course**

Spending time with my family and friends makes me the happiest. We love a backyard fire and a rainy movie day with our peeps. As we’ve gotten older, we’ve really come to understand the importance of your people and, boy, we love ours.

Most of the time you’ll catch me in comfy clothes. A big t-shirt or an oversized sweatshirt is my go to. Although, I do have a new love of overalls and that has been SO FUN. My hair will almost always be up in a clip. It’s kinda my signature thing at this point. During my own wedding reception, I stuck my hair up in a clip. I had friends come and forcefully take my hair down because they said I wouldn’t want my hair up in a clip during my first dance photos. LOL. They were right. It was a good call. Still – right after it went right back to a clip. I can’t help it. It’s the most classic 90’s look that is the most comfortable!!

Music is mine and Ryan’s love language!! Jamming to 90’s R&B, 2000’s country, and reggae anytime my husband and I are in the car is a necessity. It doesn’t matter if we are going 5 mins down the road. I can always count on Ry Guy to queue up at least two songs. Something I love about him. 🙂

I love the Lord with everything in me! I know how to love because of how He loves me. I’m still growing in my faith, but it is the most important part of my life. He is so, so good!

My Story

When I was little, I used to tell my mom, “I’m your little artist!” She currently has a picture that I drew when I was maybe 5 years old. It has the caption on it, “My mommy said I’m her little artist!” Since then, I have always wanted to be an artist.

I went to Clemson to major in graphic communications, with a focus on the marketing and branding. After college, I worked at a marketing agency for over three years. I really loved the work I was doing, and I learned a lot. But, my favorite days at work were when we were on location doing a photoshoot.

Long story short, I got burnt out in the agency environment. My awesome sister then offered to let me keep my nephew full-time until I figured everything out. It was a big change, but I did it. And it was the best decision I could have made. For one, I get to keep the cutest little bebe in the world!! He’s my little best friend. And, also not a baby anymore. Time flies!

I found my creative outlet again when I picked up my camera. I knew I loved it before, but now I had the time to go all in. And, here we are! I realized that this is my art. This is what I would do, even as a hobby. This is what I love doing. I love being a part of the moments you want to remember forever. *insert weepy eyes*

So, thank you for letting me capture your special moments. It means the world to me and my family! I am so excited to meet you and become friends.

XX Mae
